Tracy Phoned it in for DC
I have seen all of Southall's movies, including TV specials standup, and every season of 30 rock, SNL. I typically find him very amusing. His "you got that sugar" material is excessively amusing. I was naturally thrilled that he was in DC and eagerly anticipating his performance. He was just about OK, seeming tired, like exhausted tired. He began singing multiple times for extended periods...seemingly just to fill time. His material felt outdated and overused. The best part of watching him was the stylish diamond watch he had on. The DefCom Jam comedian was also not humorous. Nevertheless, the host and opening act were very funny--would have preferred to pay to see him. I don't even believe Southall would make a good warm-up act based on his performance that night. The only reason I gave a 2-star review rather than 1 is because of the host.
